Trump Beats Pelosi: Reaches Deal To Temporarily Reopen Government
Alas, the Government has been holding pay and other aspects of people’s lives in limbo during the Government shutdown. After 35 days it has gotten so bad that Laguardia Airport couldn’t function any longer due to unpaid employees not wanting to work for free anymore.
Could you imagine working for over a month with no pay? I think you would not be happy with that, especially given the fact that your paychecks stop, but your bills do not. Talk about being in a tough position, especially those who really love and enjoy their jobs. Plus you have all the Military men and women who have no choice but to keep working, even though they have no pay.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other Democrats party leaders have been refusing to cooperate or even negotiate with President Trump or any of the other Republican leaders. All this because the Dem’s do not want to agree to funding the Border Wall.
Finally today there was a little glimpse of hope. President Trump held a press conference this afternoon in the Rose Garden where he stated: “I am very proud to announce today that we have reached a deal to end the shutdown and reopen the federal government”
Now don’t get too excited, the re-opening of the Government is only until February 15, 2019, meanwhile they will continue to try and come up with an agreement about funding plans.
Trump also stated in his speech:
“They are willing to put partisanship aside, I think, and put the security of the American people first, barrier or walls will be an important part of the solution.”
Even Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport was experiencing extremely long security waiting lines due to the shutdown, with three of the major airports experiencing serious issues due to the shutdown, it was about time they came up with something.
Hopefully this is the start of some actually negotiations that deem to be fruitful, instead of the who has more power than who contest, followed by a bunch of adults acting like children. Hopefully by February 15th they can all sit down like grownups and work all this chaos out. But for now, we sit and we wait.
