Special Prosecutor Now Investigating Jussie Smollett Hoax

FINALLY! Jussie Smollett and his hate crime hoax, which he still claims is 100% true, are being looked into by a new special prosecutor.

For those who don’t remember, Smollett claimed that he was attacked and strangled while being insulted for being gay and black by white Trump supporters wearing “Make America Great Again” hats. This was found to be a complete hoax, with the attackers being Nigerian brothers who had a previous connection to Smollett, with the suspicion being that the brothers were paid to perform the crime and hoax.

As reported by Page Six, “he once faced 16 felony counts in connection to the alleged crime, the charges were dropped by State’s Attorney Kim Foxx. At the time, then Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel blasted the move, calling it a ‘whitewash of justice.'”

The controversy essentially destroyed Smollett’s acting career and in August he was officially dropped from Fox’s show “Empire.”

Well according to TMZ, Abel and Ola Osundairo, the two Nigerian brothers who were originally suspected in the apparent attack, were seen visiting with Chicago special prosecutor Dan Webb this week. As special prosecutor, Webb would have the power to reinstate the charges. However, some problems are still coming forward when it comes to relooking at this case.

For example, the special prosecutor, Webb, was brought in to investigate the case, but also to investigate why exactly the State’s Attorney Kim Foxx chose to not press charges on any of the 16 counts of felony. However, many are not happy with the choice of Webb as the special prosecutor, claiming that there is an obvious conflict of interest involved.

According to The Times of Israel, “the special prosecutor, former US Attorney Dan Webb, disclosed in a filing that he co-hosted a 2016 fundraiser for Kim Foxx and wrote her campaign a $1,000 check during her successful run for Cook County state’s attorney.”

Webb later made the claim to the judge that, “I don’t know Ms. Foxx …. and have never met her, as far as I know,” he said. “This is not even remotely a case that involves a conflict of interest.”

“I don’t know Ms. Foxx”

Webb’s investigation includes looking into whether Foxx’s calls with a Smollett relative and an ex-aide of former first lady Michelle Obama unduly influenced the decision to drop charges. Foxx recused herself from the case but continued to weigh in.

A Chicago judge said he won’t replace Webb as the special prosecutor in charge of looking into why the Foxx’s office abruptly dropped charges against Jussie Smollett, rejecting that campaign money could affect the findings.

Let’s hope justice is served and we finally get to the bottom of why Smollett was not charged and who motivated the decision.
