New York Makes It Illegal To Call Someone An “Illegal Immigrant”

If free speech isn’t dead yet, leftists are doing their best to keep the pillow over its face.

New York City has just announced that people who use the terms “illegal alien” or “illegal immigrant” could be forced to pay a fine of up to $250,000. That’s right. Yankees think calling someone an “illegal” should cost you a quarter of a million dollars.

The city’s Commission on Human Rights issued the following statement in regards to the new law:

“The use of the term ‘illegal alien,’ among others, when used with the intent to demean, humiliate, or harass a person, is illegal under the law.” As is “harassing and discriminating against someone for their use of another language or their limited English proficiency, and threatening to call ICE on a person based on a discriminatory motive.”

Look, I get it. We live in a time where people are so mentally fragile they can’t handle a few names being hurled their way. Never mind that these same people have no problem calling half of the country “deplorable.” Again, this is another perfect example of liberals caring more about people who aren’t even citizens…

Yes, calling someone else a name, and belittling them is wrong. However, we don’t need laws telling us what we can and can’t call someone.

How do people not see this going horribly wrong? All it takes is for a disgruntled individual to say “hey, this guy called me an illegal,” and suddenly that person has to spend a fortune on legal fees, not to mention the possibility of paying a fine he or she could never afford.

The law even spells out that “damages” go to the victims. So, it behooves the “victim” to find cases of “discrimination”, because that literally will make them money.

Free speech is dying, my friends, and we are letting it. This can’t stand.

Don’t let the left continue to take your God-given rights.
