Ellie Goulding Threatens To Cancel Cowboys Thanksgiving Halftime Show In Protest Of The Salvation Army
Thanksgiving in the United States is about three things, family, food, and football.
Leave it up to a Brit to come in and ruin all the fun.
Grammy-nominated singer Ellie Goulding has decided to take it upon herself to call out the Salvation Army for being a Christian organization.
“The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.”

Ok so maybe hairnet not my strongest look but thank you @salvationarmyus for having us in New York. As you know, I have spent a lot of time in shelters in London, and this was my first time in NYC… The Salvation Army annually helps more than 23 million Americans overcome poverty, addiction and economic hardships through a range of social services. By providing food for the hungry, emergency relief for disaster survivors, rehabilitation for those suffering from drug and alcohol abuse, and clothing and shelter for people in need. I sat and spoke to several people who had come in from the bitter cold for some food (they serve to over 150 per day here) , warmth and perhaps a chat with one of the volunteers. 🙏🏼
Multi-platinum singer/songwriter Ellie Goulding signaled that she is prepared to pull out of the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Kickoff, a halftime concert that marks the beginning of the annual Red Kettle Campaign, unless the organization pledges a significant donation to the LGBTQ community.
The conflict began when Goulding posted her support for the organization on Instagram.
So, Goulding posted something in support of a group that helps people, and her godless fanbase attacked her for it. Now, instead of siding with an organization that, for years, has helped millions of lives, she’s going to listen to a bunch of kids who have nothing better to do but bitch on their phones.
Goulding issued a statement on that matter, calling for The Salvation Army to change its policies, and adopt some sort of pro-gay agenda…
“Upon researching this, I have reached out to The Salvation Army and said that I would have no choice but to pull out unless they very quickly make a solid, committed pledge or donation to the LGBTQ community. I am a committed philanthropist as you probably know, and my heart has always been in helping the homeless, but supporting an anti-LGBTQ charity is clearly not something I would ever intentionally do. Thank you for drawing my attention to this x”
You might be asking yourself what she is referring to. Here’s this little tidbit from the God-haters over at Huffington Post:
In recent years, the Salvation Army has come under fire for its lengthy history of anti-LGBT political maneuvering and other incidents. The church has publicly articulated its belief that homosexuality is unacceptable, stating:
Scripture opposes homosexual practices by direct comment and also by clearly implied disapproval. The Bible treats such practices as self-evidently abnormal. … Attempts to establish or promote such relationships as viable alternatives to heterosexually-based family life do not conform to God’s will for society.
Yes. Scripture does oppose homosexual practices. No doubt about that.
Goulding and others think that The Salvation Army, after YEARS, and YEARS, and YEARS is suddenly going to change its views, and practices, just to appease a halftime singer… That’s the level of intellect we are going up against, folks.
