One Year After Their Divorce, “Flip or Flop” Couple Post Unexpected News About Their Future

A year ago Christina and Tarek El Moussa ended their marriage after a highly publicized breakup. Now, the former “Flip or Flop” stars are opening up about how they’ve bounced back from hitting rock bottom.

With the one year anniversary of their split approaching, the two posted a pair of emotional quotes on each of their social media accounts.

“You do not get to choose the events that come your way nor the sorrows that interrupt your life,” Christina’s post said, quoting pastor David Crosby’s book Your Pain Is Changing You. “Pain will change you more profoundly than success or good fortune.”

Couldn't agree more. #keepthefaith

Christina is partial to the quote, as it specifically talks about putting on a brave face while going through something difficult. Clearly she’s drawing comparisons to her own experience of doing a show with her ex.

Tarek posted a quote by the renowned author J.K. Rowling, who famously went from what she calls “rock bottom” to going on to becoming one of the best selling writers in history.

Beneath the quote, Tarek shared some insight from his own personal experiences:

“This quote really stood out to me. We’ve all faced obstacles and for many they were so horrific they hit the lowest point of their life with no future in sight….when you are at the bottom you feel nothing but pain, misery and despair. Even though you can’t see the light at the bottom it still exists and as time goes on that light starts to shine. Once that light starts to shine take the opportunity to reevaluate who you are and what you want to be. Take it as an opportunity to bounce back and be stronger than ever. In my opinion, rock bottom is an opportunity to start over and do it right!”

After surviving cancer twice, it’s safe to say that Tarek understands overcoming difficult times.

Prior to splitting up, the two had been married for seven years, and have two children together.
