Universal Pulls “The Hunt” After President Trump Calls Out Hollywood
Well, well, well, well, well… it would appear someone at Universal had a moment of clarity.
The Hunt, a film about liberals hunting Trump supporters for sport, has been pulled from it’s scheduled theatrical release next month.
The studio had this to say about their decision to pull the film:
“While Universal Pictures had already paused the marketing campaign for The Hunt, after thoughtful consideration, the studio has decided to cancel our plans to release the film. We stand by our filmmakers and will continue to distribute films in partnership with bold and visionary creators, like those associated with this satirical social thriller, but we understand that now is not the right time to release this film.”
While the studio claims it was the recent shootings that spurred their decision, they waited over a week to make the announcement. Maybe they didn’t want to take the spotlight from the recent tragedies that hit our nation last weekend, or MAYBE they caved to President Trump calling them out.
“Hollywood — I don’t call them the elites; I think the elites are people they go after, in many cases,” the president said in a press conference on Friday. “But Hollywood is really terrible.”
“You talk about racist — Hollywood is racist. What they’re doing, with the kind of movies they’re putting out — it’s actually very dangerous for our country. What Hollywood is doing is a tremendous disturbance to our country.”
The president also took to Twitter to let the masses know what he thought about Hollywood’s decision to even make a film about killing others over political differences:
“Liberal Hollywood is Racist at the highest level, and with great Anger and Hate! They like to call themselves “Elite,” but they are not Elite. In fact, it is often the people that they so strongly oppose that are actually the Elite. The movie coming out is made in order to inflame and cause chaos. They create their own violence, and then try to blame others. They are the true Racists, and are very bad for our Country!”
This also comes a week after ESPN decided to pull an ad for the film on their network. In the words of Michael Jordan: “Republicans buy sneakers too”.
ON THE FLIP SIDE:
Why make the movie if you aren’t going to release it? Why spend hundreds of thousands, if not millions of dollars advertising the movie, only to pull it under scrutiny. The cast, crew, and studio knew that people would be pissed about the movie. They aren’t that obtuse.
This might get spun into some sort of “Trump squashes film” story, but ultimately this is Universal caving. The left can’t say “the president incites violence”, and then support a film inciting violence. This isn’t censorship, it’s political strategy.
Oh yeah, and don’t forget Jeffrey Epstein “committed suicide” before he could testify against the Clintons.
