Elizabeth Smart Just Gave Birth To A Baby Girl, And The Photos Are Too Cute
We all know her story, the ups and downs, the tragedy, and the outcome of being rescued. Elizabeth Smart endured things that most of us will never be able to fathom in our lifetimes.
In 2002, at just the age of 14, Elizabeth was abducted by a man with a knife, right out of her own bedroom in her home in Salt Lake City, Utah. Her story quickly became a high profile case. What happened to this poor girl was a nightmare. She was beaten, raped, and forced to act as a wife to a man who claimed himself to be a prophet. Clearly he was just all kinds of evil.
She was kept for nine months before someone spotted her with her abductor, who we won’t name, scum like that doesn’t deserve a name. She was ultimately rescued thanks to someone good eye seeing her, and reporting it.
What came after Elizabeth’s rescue in 2003 has defined her more than what happened to her. She is truly a pillar of strength, and shows people that you can go on after tragedy. She has since become an advocate in helping others who have been through similar things. She is refusing to be defined by what happened to her.
“I may always be known as the girl that was kidnapped,” she stated in a video on her FaceBook that she had posted after the release of one of her captors from jail. She decided to share what her mother used to tell her: “The best punishment you could ever give them is to be happy … by holding on to the past … that’s only allowing them to steal more of your life away from you.”
Elizabeth started the Elizabeth Smart Foundation, which helps to prevent future crimes against children, and to aid victims of crimes that have already been committed.
She’s right, don’t allow anyone to steal your life from you. She has overcome so much, and is doing very well nowadays.
In fact Elizabeth met her now husband, Matthew Gilmour back in 2009. They got married in February 2012 on the north shore of Oahu, Hawaii. It is the same place where she went with her family in the wake of her kidnapping rescue.
In February 2015, Smart gave birth to a daughter named Chloe, and in 2017, she gave birth to a son named James.
Now Elizabeth is gushing over the birth of their third child, named Olivia. Elizabeth took to Instagram shortly after giving birth to announce the new member of their family saying, “So happy to welcome Olivia to our family!” with a picture of mom and dad, and baby Olivia. So cute!
It’s amazing to see sure wonderful things come after a tragedy. She’s truly an inspiration to anyone who has been through something traumatic in this life. She’s proof that even though the world around you may try to steal your life, you joy, and your faith in humanity, that it’s never too late to take your life back into your own hands, and make something great of it.
Congratulations on the new baby Elizabeth Smart! She sure is a cutie!
