It was recently revealed that Bill O’Reilly settled another sexual harassment case to the tune of $32 million dollars. If that’s not shocking enough, this will be the 6th matter of the sort he’s settled. That’s right 6th!
Something even more shocking, Fox News knew the current settlement was in the works when the news man was negotiating another four year, $25 Million dollar contract. That should be shocking, but unfortunately in 2017 it takes way more than that to grab our attention and get our focus of the endless scroll of social media.
Megyn Kelly has recently come out and spoken about the treatment she received from O’Reilly while she was over at Fox News.
“O’Reilly’s suggestion that no one ever complained about his behavior is false. I know, because I complained.”
O’Reilly gave an infamous interview where he defiantly stated he wouldn’t discuss claims of sexual harassment about another Fox News employee because it would disgrace the company.
There’s part of the problem, aside from the wretched behavior itself.
Who cares about a company?
A company doesn’t breathe. It doesn’t have feelings. A company is an idea, and Bill O’Reilly has reshuffled the deck too many times on this outdated idea for it to be accepted any longer.
But $25 Million over four years has a way of instilling that kind of dogmatic rigidity in you.
Megyn Kelly finally did complain and part of her email to Fox News leadership reads,
Perhaps he didn’t realize the kind of message his criticism sends to young women across this country about how men continue to view the issue of speaking out about sexual harassment
She then added,
“Perhaps he didn’t realize how his exact attitude of shaming women into shutting the hell up about harassment on grounds that it would disgrace the company is in part how Fox got into the decades long Ailes mess to begin with…”
“Perhaps it’s his own history of harassment of women which has, as you both know, resulted in payouts to more than one woman, including recently, that blinded him to the folly of saying anything other than, ‘I am just so sorry for the women of this company who never should have had to go through that.’”
O’Reilly seems to think that it’s all made up, as he continues to play like he’s never paid out millions upon millions of dollars because of his own misconduct.
He posted two separate thank you notes from Megyn Kelly and Gretchen Carlson as if it absolves him from any accusations. As if no one in their right mind would send a handwritten thank you card to someone who was so horrible. As if no one would see through his own denial.

Thanks for the plug on Doug’s book. I realize you didn’t have to do that, especially after mentioning it already.
