If Your Child Has This Popular Toy Throw It Away Now, Mother Has Terrifying Warning For Parents

Moms be alert!

That cute little teething toy that your infant and toddler loves might be harboring a science experiment right under your nose. If you have a Sophie the Giraffe toy you may want to replace it if you’ve had it for any length of time.

This isn’t an attack on the makers of the beloved toy, but rather a writing for awareness. Our children are the most precious parts of our lives and we all want to do whats best for them, even if that means updating a particular toy.

It all started when a parent wanted to clean the toy because they smelled musty air coming out of it. Instead they actually cut the toy in two out of curiosity and concern that something more sinister might be taking place. Much to their dismay something scary was definitely making its home there!

Dana Chianese, a pediatric dentist tells what she experienced.

“I decided to cut into Sophie out of curiosity and discovered a science experiment living inside. Smelly, ugly mold living in my infant’s favorite chew toy!”

Chianese thought she was on top of everything and knew the best toys to recommend. She regularly recommended the Sophie toy to patients. But now she regrets doing so,

“It still hurts my heart to know that for months I allowed my babies to chew on moldy toys. I no longer buy any chew toys with a hole or recommend any to my patients.”

So what does the manufacturer of the toy have to say?

The makers of the toy were quick to respond to the concern and did their best the quell the storm,

First of all, it’s important to know that Sophie la Girafe [Sophie the Giraffe] is composed of 100% natural rubber, so the cleaning instructions have to be carefully respected. As indicated on the packaging and in an explanatory leaflet inside the packaging, we recommend to clean the surface of Sophie la Girafe with a damp cloth. It should not be immersed in the water nor rinsed off, to prevent water from getting inside, as she may become damaged. We thus would like to emphasize on the fact that is it important, while cleaning the product, that no water gets inside the whole.

As of now, we have not been contacted by Mrs. Chianese nor Mrs. Opera and were not aware of the situation before reading your article. It is thus difficult for us to comment on the current situation, as we haven’t had the chance to examine the products. Please know that each complaint received is taken very seriously and that the return of the product is always asked for further examination. Furthermore, please know that the safety of children and satisfaction of their parents is our main priority. For the past 55 years, we have always strived to exceed security standards and all of our products comply with the most stringent global standards.

While sincere and well intentioned, it’s likely that the reputation for this toy is too far gone, and will have trouble recovering

If you have this toy at home, you’ll probably want to do the safe thing and send them to the dump with all of the others.
