Politicians are now joining in the thought-policing that hip-hop superstar Kanye West has been talking about, this time in the form of a scolding from Maxine Waters.
After acknowledging that West has “presented some of the most revolutionary material in the African-American community”, she goes so far as to tell Yeezy that he should “maybe not have so much to say” when it comes to supporting the president.
“Sometimes Kanye West talks out of turn,” says Waters, echoing sentiments of her fellow left-wing supporters. “Perhaps sometimes he needs some assistance in helping him to formulate some of his thoughts.”
Golly, I wonder why Maxine would think West “needs some assistance” when it comes to being a free-thinking individual. Perhaps she’s worried that her fellow black Americans will be exposed to the lies that have been sold to them by the Democrat Party for the last century.
After all, it was the Democrats who supported slavery and opposed the integration of schools. Oh, and the KKK was originally founded by southern Democrats as well. Of course, these facts are never mentioned in leftist circles. Instead, they point to things like Nixon’s “southern strategy” as the single factor for the south’s switch to conservative ideology.
Waters went on to say that “We don’t think that he actually means to do harm, but we’re not sure he really understands the impact of what he’s saying, at the time that he’s saying it and how that weighs on, particularly the African American community – and for young people in general.”
Translation: young people, particularly young black people, might start thinking that being a conservative is acceptable. If the youth start thinking for themselves, then they won’t vote for Democrats.
“I understand that he is getting pushback from a lot of young people on the internet … but we’re hopeful that his creativity will continue to be demonstrated in his work.”
Imagine for a second if a white person told someone like, I don’t know, Lebron James to just “shut up and dribble”… Oh wait, hold on a second. That already happened. Have people already forgotten about Laura Ingraham’s comments?
Surely we should expect a media backlash against Maxine for telling Kanye West to stick to “his work”, right? If the media wants to be consistent (yeah, right) then isn’t it natural to expect her words to be met with pushback from the talk show hosts?
There’s a lot of comedy in what Waters said, specifically her claims that Kanye just doesn’t understand what he’s saying. This is coming from the same woman who claimed to be a millennial (making her between 20-35 years old). This is the same person who thought Putin was going to invade Korea (Crimea), and who marched because her mother couldn’t abort her. Yeah, that actually happened:
“I have to march because my mother could not have an abortion.”
Kanye’s tweets about the “thought police” speak directly to people like Waters who are calling for him to rethink his position. How in the world does the left not see that?
Obviously, Waters and her colleagues are terrified of black people waking up and realizing “hey, the Democrat party isn’t helping to lift us up.” Kanye is a direct threat to them, and rather than engage in a dialogue with him, their only recourse is to shame him into accepting their way as better.
Kanye West is one of the hardest working men in entertainment, and there’s only one party that thinks hard working individuals should get ahead regardless of race, and it’s not the party calling for entitlements.
Keep triggering the left, Yeezy. It’s a joy to watch them fall over themselves when the truth is presented.
